Who We Are
The RENO TRIANGLE CLUB, a 501c3 corporation, was founded June 1991 by members of Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon. Their purpose was to make the program of Alcoholics Anonymous available to recovering alcoholics in the Reno/Sparks area. During the past 40 years, the club idea has become a part of the A.A. experience. This is easy to understand, because many a group may have felt the need for a permanent meeting place (a home, so to speak). Many A.A.s have wanted a place where new members could go for coffee and conversation, a spot where members could gather for lunch, a place where they could gather socially on weekends and holidays. For it seems that some A.A.s in their new found way of living, want to extend fellowship beyond group meetings; they want an A.A. social life, too. Thus, the club was born. (A.A. guidelines on Clubs)
This was the thinking and genesis for the idea that materialized in the founding of The Reno Triangle Club and remains the primary purpose. Alcoholics Anonymous does not finance or lend its name to any outside organization. Alcoholics Anonymous has a history of cooperating with outside organizations without affiliation. In this spirit The Reno Triangle Club cooperates with the movement of Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon. Each A.A. and Al-Anon meeting held at the club is conducted by an autonomous A.A. or Al-Anon group and they are fully self-supporting. The Triangle Club as well as each A.A. and Al-Anon Group are responsible for their own business decisions and all are totally separate and accountable to themselves. We support the Movement of Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon and Alateen. |
